Functions
• Auxiliary Sealing: Cooperating with the auxiliary impeller, under the rotating action of the auxiliary impeller, it resists the leakage of liquid from the outlet of the main impeller, prevents slurry from leaking at the pump shaft, forms an effective seal, reduces leakage, and improves the efficiency and stability of the pump.
• Pressure Balancing: It helps balance the pressure inside the pump, especially when the impeller of the pump is rotating at high speed, making the pressure distribution of the fluid inside the pump more uniform, and avoiding component damage or leakage problems caused by uneven pressure.
Structure and Design
• Materials: Common materials include cast iron, high-chromium alloy, rubber, bidirectional stainless wear-resistant steel, etc., and special materials can also be used. For example, Cr26 high-chromium cast iron has a hardness of ≥HRC60 and strong wear resistance; rubber lining is suitable for corrosive slurries. In addition, there is a combination of a carbon steel shell and a silicon carbide lining to improve the comprehensive performance of the pressure reducing cover.
• Basic Structure: It usually includes a cover body, which is provided with threaded holes for installation, and may also have components such as rubber pads, fixing plates, and elastic pieces. Some pressure reducing covers are also provided with screw holes on the sealing end face, which realize the sealing with the rear guard plate through bolts and sealing rubber pads. The interior may be provided with supporting rods, balance rods and other structures to assist in sealing and enhance stability.
Common Problems and Solutions
• Material Leakage: The reasons may be aging or damage of seals, loosening or uneven tightening of pressure reducing cover bolts, wear or deformation of the pressure reducing cover surface, inappropriate operating parameters, defects or damage of the pressure reducing cover itself, failure of the lubrication system, etc. The solutions include checking and replacing seals, checking and adjusting the pressure reducing cover bolts, checking and repairing the pressure reducing cover surface, checking and adjusting operating parameters, checking and replacing the pressure reducing cover, checking and adjusting the lubrication system, and regular maintenance.
• Wear: Due to the scouring and wear of the slurry, the pressure reducing cover is prone to wear, especially the parts in contact with the slurry. The wear can be reduced and the service life of the pressure reducing cover can be prolonged by selecting appropriate wear-resistant materials, optimizing the structural design of the pressure reducing cover, controlling the flow rate and particle size of the slurry, and conducting regular inspection and maintenance.
Maintenance
• Regular Inspection: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the pressure reducing cover at certain intervals, including appearance inspection, dimension measurement, and sealing performance test, to timely find potential problems.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Regularly clean the slurry, dirt and rust on the pressure reducing cover to keep the surface of the pressure reducing cover clean and prevent the accumulation of impurities from affecting the sealing performance and heat dissipation effect.
• Bolt Fastening: Check the fastening of the pressure reducing cover bolts to ensure that all bolts are evenly fastened, so as to avoid material leakage and other problems caused by loose bolts.
• Replacement of Seals: Replace the seals regularly according to the service condition and service life of the seals to ensure good sealing performance of the pressure reducing cover.
